Active Healthy Kids Ghana Alliance (AHKGhA) is a group member of ALWAG and affiliated to the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA). The AHKGA is a network of researchers, health professionals and stakeholders who are working together to advance physical activity in children and youth from around the world. The AHKGA was established in 2014, following the success of the world’s first Global Summit on the Physical Activity of Children in Toronto.

AHKGhA is a source for furthering the “movement to get kids moving”- just like AHK-Canada, HAK-South Africa and HAK-Kenya. Active Healthy Kids Ghana Alliance is an avenue for furthering research in physical activity science, building a knowledge-base in physical activity and implementing evidence-based interventions to increase physical activity levels and performance standards among children and youth in the country.

The intent of AHK-Ghana initiative is to encourage and support evidence-based practices in physical activity centers and to ensure social protection for children and youth. Furthermore, AHK-Ghana supports networking with similar organizations for mentoring, communications and advocacy to improve quality, accessibility and enjoyable physical activity experiences for children and young people in schools and communities across Ghana and beyond.

Aim: AHKGhA aims at increasing physical activity participation levels among children and youth.
Vision: Nurture Active Healthy Kids to build a community of holistic wellness.
Mission: Establish the platform for kids and youths to meet global and national recommendations/guidelines for physical activity for optimum health, sports excellence and academic achievement.
